The Virgin America brand name may still fly, according to Alaska Airlines CEO Brad Tilden.
Two months ago Alaska Airlines agreed to acquire Virgin America in a deal valued at nearly $4 billion.
"Joining forces with Alaska Airlines will ensure that our mission lives on, and that the stronger, combined company will continue to be a great place to work and an airline that focuses on an outstanding travel experience," David Cush, Virgin America CEO said at the time.
That appears to be echoed by Tilden, although he offered no guarantees that the Virgin America name will be around for the long haul.
"We are looking at that because we do believe in the power of the Virgin America brand and we don’t want to lose all that loyalty and revenue that exists today," Tilden said.
No plans have been finalized, Tilden said, although history suggests it will eventually disappear over time, based on recent airline acquisitions.
Tilden told the AP Alaska Air is ‘taking a good look at running two brands for some period of time, perhaps forever.’
