Virgin Atlantic is marking 20 years of flying between the UK and Japan.
The airline has carried almost three million passengers between London and Tokyo since starting flights in May 1989.
The service was originally from Gatwick but was moved to operate from Heathrow in 1991.
The carrier’s president Sir Richard Branson is due in Tokyo this week to mark the 20th anniversary of the start of flights.
Virgin claims there is an increasing number of travellers flying 12 hours for city breaks in Tokyo.
Chief executive Steve Ridgway said: "Twenty years on Tokyo still remains a very popular business and holiday destinations, with an increasing number of passengers taking city breaks to the region for its diverse culture, great food and stunning city life."
