VLM plans further growth in 2007
VLM Airlines flew nine per cent more passenger last year than 2005 with a total of 681,751 and plans to add more capacity this year.
The regional business carrier opened two new routes last year, helping scheduled passenger numbers to rise by 8.5% to 652,144. The remainder of the rise came from charter work.
With VLM estimating that around 80% of its passengers travel for business purposes, the airline is to focus on offering time-saving travel solutions, convenient schedules and onboard service.
Managing director Johan Vanneste said: “2006 has been a challenging year for VLM Airlines, with increasing frequencies and the launch of new routes.
“In the last quarter alone, VLM Airlines increased its capacity by 23% and in December announced the new Manchester to Rotterdam route. Combined, these new initiatives will see VLM Airlines grow again by some 25% in 2007.
“Our focus however will remain on offering a quality and time-saving service to business travellers across our network.”
