von Essen acquires Amberley Castle
Amberley Castle near Arundel in West Sussex has been acquired by Cliveden owner von Essen, bringing the number of properties in the group up to 25.
The 14th century property has just 19 bedrooms and suites, many with four-poster beds and Jacuzzi bathrooms.
Facilities include two restaurants, lounge areas, tennis court, croquet lawn, gardens and lakes, 18-hole professional putting course and a thatched roof tree house.
Amberley is the third castle property within the von Essen collection, alongside Thornbury Castle in Gloucestershire, and Dalhousie Castle in Edinburgh.
The castle was bought from Martin and Joy Cummings for an undisclosed sum. They spent more than a decade transforming the semi-derelict castle into a world-renowned hotel.
