Wandering turtle delays flights at Tokyo Airport
A wayward turtle went walkabout leading to the temporary closure of Runway A at Tokyo’s Narita Airport and the delay of five flights. Planes were delayed by up to 15 minutes.
Ironically, ANA’s sea turtle-themed Airbus A380 was one of the delayed aircraft. There was a brief ground-stop while airport contractors rescued the reptile. The airport says it probably came from the airport’s retention pond which is about 100m from the runway.
