Westin debuts innovative small-meeting workspace
Westin Hotels & Resorts yesterday began rolling out a flexible, private, temporary workspace for small groups that can be booked by the hour at a moment’s notice.
In about 260 square feet, groups of up to four co-workers can conduct planned or impromptu small meetings, make phone calls, or hold teleconferences, together or in individual work zones.
Dubbed Tangent, the space includes videoconferencing equipment, televisions, printers, sound systems, an Xbox 360, floor-to-ceiling white boards, fully stocked office supplies, free wired and wireless internet access, and lots of electrical outlets.
Tangent has completed pilot testing at The Westin Boston Waterfront and The Westin Arlington Gateway Hotel, and this month will also roll out to The Westin Grand Munich.
By the end of the year Westin plans to bring Tangent workspaces to 40 more hotels, including The Westin Resort Nusa Dua in Bali and The Westin Copley Place in Boston.
"We are changing the way we do business to better customize the guest experience," said Brian Povinelli, Westin Hotels global brand leader. "Tangent was specifically designed as a smart room and personalized work space that enhances productivity and can be booked on demand."
In Westin’s research, 48% of respondents said having small-meeting facilities available whenever they wanted to use them would positively impact their hotel stay.
