WestJet appoints head of new low cost carrier unit

WestJet has announced the head of its upcoming ultra-low cost airline venture.
Long-time executive Bob Cummings is appointed as executive vice-president for the business which hasn’t yet been named.
He will be responsible for planning, branding, pricing, product development and operations and officially takes over at the end of May.
Cummings joined WestJet in 2005.
"Bob has been an integral part of the successful transformation of WestJet," said Gregg Saretsky, WestJet CEO.
"We are well positioned to continue our profitable growth and I look forward to Bob’s strategic thinking, leadership and execution capability coming to bear in launching this exciting new airline.
The new ULCC is expected to launch in late 2017 or early 2018.
