An ex-WestJet employee has filed a plea deal ahead of trial proceedings, accusing him of defrauding the airline.
Terance Gough pleaded guilty of fraud after being accused of issuing C$145,000 in WestJet flight credits over a three-year period.
As a guest relations officer, Gough was able to resolve complaints by issuing up to $350 for flights.
It was alleged Gough and another employee were paid about half of the value of the travel credits from friends and others in whose names bookings were later fraudulently made.
One friend told investigators he had been given $16,000 worth of WestJet dollars by Gough.
In 2015, WestJet launched an internal probe after it discovered Gough was issuing significantly more flight credits than other colleagues.
The airline then passed it over to the financial crimes unit of the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team who led the criminal investigation.
Gough was then fired.
Justice Blair Nixon will hear a joint sentencing submission from prosecution and defence attorneys later this month.
