What’s new on the Colorado Historic Hot Springs Loop
Summer is here and numerous new upgrades and inaugural events have been unveiled along the meandering 720mile Colorado Historic Hot Springs Loop for this season.
Sustained by the thermal hot springs that flow through the Colorado Rocky Mountains, the already diverse array of amenities and attractions are more comprehensive than ever this year, says Vicky Nash, project manager for the Colorado Historic Hot Springs Loop.
"These hot springs facilities continuously enhance their unique features so that guests have a high-quality experience."
The five premier hot springs destinations are touting shiny new makeovers and new wellness and entertainment programming for summer 2017 with something new in each destination.
So what’s hot on the Colorado Historic Hot Springs Loop for 2017?
First up, Ouray Hot Springs has just completed an extensive $10.6 million renovation just in time for the springs’ 90th birthday. Add-ons and improvements includes a new family-friendly shallow section in the pool, slides, a new hot section and improved deck lights, heated walkways, and LED in-water lighting.
Iron Mountain Hot Springs at Glenwood Springs has unveiled a new Rejuvenation Station featuring cooling outdoor showers and the chair and table massage therapy makes a welcome return thanks to guest demand.
"The rejuvenation station with cool rainfall showers near the Sopris Café is a welcome addition to our hydrotherapy options," resort general manager Mike Besaw said.
This fall sees the Harvest Moon Wholistic Festival, at Cottonwood Hot Springs on September 9-10, bringing people with a shared connection to healing, rejuvenation, and mindfulness together in a suitably rustic setting.
Over at Steamboat Springs, the Old Town Hot Springs plans to undertake a major renovation program, and is actively fundraising to expand the existing hot springs building by 15,000 square feet and increase the size of the pools. Planned in two phases, work is slated to begin next year.
There are a total of 19 facilities situated along the Colorado Historic Hot Springs Loop showcasing features as diverse as vapor caves, hot pots, terraced pools and well-equipped aquatic centers.
