Windstar Cruises shifts Middle East cruise season to the Mediterranean

Windstar Cruises has released a new Mediterranean cruise schedule for winter 2023/24.

It comes after the line cancelled its Middle East cruises due to the Israel-Hamas conflict.

It now covers iconic ports such as Barcelona, Nice, Florence, Marseille, and Rome aboard the all-suite, 312-guest, Star Legend.

“The ship was originally scheduled to sail in the Middle East. We’ve postponed our launch in that region to begin in November 2024,” said Windstar Cruises President Christopher Prelog.

“With a ship in the Mediterranean, we saw an opportunity to offer guests a legendary winter season in Europe.”

The seven-night Mediterranean cruises have been designed for easier access to museums, cultural events, and historical landmarks during the quieter winter months.

They offer guests a blend of cultural exploration and festive celebrations.

New week-long cruises in the Mediterranean will be offered from December 2023 through April 2024.

Sixteen cruises sail between Rome and Barcelona (and reverse) visiting Florence & Pisa, Marseille, and overnights in Rome, Barcelona and Monte Carlo.

The last of the new Mediterranean series is an eight-night cruise from Rome to Athens visiting the Amalfi Coast and Greece.

A Christmas holiday sailing can be booked as a 8- or 9-day cruise, the latter including New Year’s Eve.

These Europe cruises take in holiday markets, ice skating and more in Nice, the Vatican, and Florence’s Light Festival, among other unique experiences.

There are options to celebrate Christmas eve and day in Rome; New Year in Barcelona or spend Valentine’s Day in Nice.

The new winter sailings go on general sale from November 6, 2023.
