Budget airline Wizz Air will launch new routes to the UK next spring when it opens its 26th base in the Polish city of Krakow.
It will base two Airbus A321s at the airport, from where it will start a twice daily service to London Luton on April 4 and a three times a week service to Doncaster on May 2.
In total, Wizz Air will initially serve 12 routes from Krakow. Tickets are available on the airline’s website.
Krakow will be Wizz Air’s fifth base in Poland, joining Warsaw, Katowice, Gdansk and Wroclaw, and represents an investment of $240 million by the airline in Poland.
Wizz will offer 8.2 million seats next year on 85 routes, including 54 from Luton and 12 from Doncaster.
Speaking at a press conference in Krakow, executive vice president and deputy CEO Stephen Jones said: "Today’s announcement underlines our commitment to our UK and Polish markets, where we launched operations back in 2004 with the first Wizz Air flight from Luton to Katowice.
"We chose Krakow to be our newest base in Poland as we see the potential and the demand for low cost travel in this city which is a popular tourist destination as well as a rapidly developing business hub."
