A female passenger who sneaked her own miniature bottle of vodka onto a flight has complained to easyJet after the airline allegedly called for police to escort her from the plane.
The 32-year-old mother of three told MailOnline that easyJet had tried to have her arrested when the flight landed in Alicante, even though she claims she hadn’t actually drunk any of the alcohol.
Lucy Yallop admitted that she was aware passengers weren’t allowed to drink their own alcohol onboard when she tried to slip some of the duty-free vodka into the orange juice she’d bought, but she claims the crew’s reaction was disproportionate.
She said their response to a ‘naughty schoolgirl thing’ was humiliating and she has since complained to the airline.
A member of the crew allegedly took the vodka, which was then placed in the woman’s bag in the overhead locker, and she was told she would be arrested when the flight landed.
She claims she was escorted off the aircraft by two Spanish police officers, but she wasn’t arrested. However, when she returned to the airport two days later for her flight home, easyJet refused to allow her to board.
An easyJet spokesman told MailOnline: "EasyJet’s cabin crew are trained to evaluate passenger alcohol consumption and take the actions they feel are appropriate.
"On this flight the crew warned a passenger four times that they could not drink their own alcohol onboard.
"The safety and wellbeing of passengers and crew is always easyJet’s priority."
