Worldchoice conference to focus on training and Europe
Travel training and the state of European tour operations will be top of the agenda at this year’s Worldchoice conference in Alicante, Spain which takes place from March 15 to 18.
Worldchoice believes that there is increasing demand for agent training in the industry. In response to agent feedback, the consortia has recently run a number of training programmes, which it says have been a huge success. According to Worldchoice, its recent ski roadshow helped “to achieve sales increases of up to 29% compared with the same time last year”.
In line with the adopted theme of the conference, ‘From Silver to Gold’, Worldchoice has invited Caroline Horrigan, chief executive of the National Training Organisation for Travel, Tourism Services and Events (Ttento), to talk about training as key to a successful and profitable business, turning “average performers into gold winners”.
Citing the recent slowdown in transatlantic travel as a contributor to Europe’s increased appeal as a holiday destination, Worldchoice has invited Manny Fontenla-Novoa, md of Thomas Cook Tour Operations Businesses and Seamus Conlon, md of Airtours Holidays, to discuss the state of European tour operations from a British and German perspective.
Also speaking at the conference will be Mark Bedlow, director of PricewaterhouseCoopers, who will be offering advice on what agencies can do to improve profitability.
The conference is supported by the Spanish Tourist Office, Valencia Region Tourist Board and Costa Blanca Tourism.
