Wotif.com makes room for another top award
Wotif.com ( www.wotif.com ), Australia’s leading accommodation website, proudly announces that it has been awarded the esteemed 2006 Inspiration iAward for overall excellence in ICT innovation by the Australian Information Industry Association (AIIA).
Announced at the 2006 iAwards ceremony in Sydney on Friday 7 April, Wotif.com was revealed as the overall winner, having been first presented with an iAward in the Tourism & Hospitality category for the most innovative nomination for developing ICT (information and communication technology) solutions for support of the tourism and hospitality industry.
Presented by the AIIA, the iAwards embrace the entrepreneurial spirit of the Australian ICT industry, and encourage its growth and development by providing international recognition for Australia’s leading ICT innovations.
Graeme Wood, Wotif.com CEO, commented: “Innovation has been a key driving factor in Wotif.com’s business evolution and success, and we are thrilled to receive this award, which acknowledges our efforts.
“The online accommodation industry is extremely competitive and to stay ahead we constantly push the boundaries to deliver a product that exceeds customer expectations and keeps us at the forefront.”
Graeme launched Wotif.com in March 2000, pioneering the selling of accommodation online in Australia. By only selling vacant accommodation into the next few weeks, Wotif.com was able to offer great rates with big savings on a hotel’s normal rate.
With its ease-of-use and instant confirmation for bookings, Wotif.com was the first website to bring live hotel inventory to the retail market, setting a new standard that brought about a significant change in consumer behaviour.
Wotif.com is now Australia’s leading accommodation website, continuing to provide consumers with great accommodation rates at the widest range of properties throughout Australia and New Zealand.
Wotif.com will go on to represent Australia at the Asia Pacific ICT Awards (APICTA), which will be held in Macau in October 2006.
