Xiamen Airlines has signed a memorandum of understanding with plane maker Boeing for a multi-billion dollar order for 30 new 737 MAX 200 jets.
The agreement was announced at the Farnborough Air show worth about $3.39 billion at current list prices.
"The market-leading efficiency and reliability of the 737 MAX 200 will enable Xiamen and its subsidiaries to expand its growing network, while maintaining an optimal fleet. This MOU further demonstrates the strength of our enduring partnership," said Boeing president and CEO Ray Conner.
The airline currently operates a fleet of more than 140 all-Boeing aircraft including Dreamliners.
It plans to grow that to over 200 planes by the end of the decade.
Xiamen Airlines is a stated-owned subsidiary of China Southern Airlines and the agreement will still require approval from the China Southern Group board and the Beijing Government.
