A disturbing trend: North American airport congestion

Airline delays at major hubs are bad enough, but they’re spreading to smaller cities.
A half dozen industry experts at the Las Vegas World Aviation Forum agreed that little was being done to increase airport and air space capacity, said USA Today.
The problem includes many large airports such as Chicago’s O’Hare already at or near their capacity. Smaller airports are also beginning to see congestion delays as airlines keep adding more flights.
But an even more ominous sign is that within a decade, travelers at North American airports are expected to increase more than 30%.
That could lead to 1 billion airline passengers, said Greg Principato, president of Airports Council-North America.
