Air Austral revamps MyCapricorne frequent flyer program with more rewards

La Reunion Island home carrier Air Austral has unveiled a major overhaul of its MyCapricorne frequent flyer program, introducing a simpler earning structure, more flexible redemption options, and easier access to elite status benefits.

The redesigned loyalty program, which also covers regional subsidiary Ewa Air, is designed to reward customers for every euro spent with the airline, not just on airfare. Travelers will now earn MyCapricorne points on a wide range of purchases, including baggage, seat selection, onboard services, meals, and upgrades.

The new earning structure starts at 10 points per euro spent for Essential members, making it easier for passengers to accumulate rewards throughout their travel journey.

One of the biggest changes is the introduction of a Cash + Points payment option. Members can now pay for flights and ancillary services using any combination of cash and loyalty points, or redeem points for the full purchase price when availability allows. Air Austral says the new system gives travelers greater flexibility while making it easier to use accumulated rewards.

Easier status qualification and lifetime points

Air Austral is also making loyalty points significantly more valuable by allowing them to remain valid for life, provided members take at least one Air Austral flight every 24 months.

The airline has also simplified elite status qualification. Under the new system, every euro spent equals one Status Point, calculated over a rolling 12-month period.

A new Évasion tier becomes available after earning 2,500 Status Points, offering benefits including a complimentary checked bag and free standard seat selection.

Members reaching the top-tier Exclusive status receive enhanced privileges, including complimentary seat selection across all seating categories and access to airport fast-track security and immigration lanes regardless of their cabin class.

The redesign of MyCapricorne has been one of Air Austral’s most significant projects in recent years,” said Isabelle Birem, Executive Director of Customer Experience. “Every euro spent is now rewarded, every traveler is better recognized, and using points has never been more flexible. Our ambition is to make MyCapricorne a true driver of customer loyalty and preference for Air Austral.

To support the relaunch, Air Austral is rolling out its first-ever advertising campaign dedicated exclusively to MyCapricorne. The primarily digital campaign will highlight the program’s new benefits, including one of its most attractive features: an additional 9 kg of free checked baggage available from enrollment and on every flight.
