ABTA plan to ease Flight Plus costs for members
ABTA is planning to announce a joint ATOL licensing scheme with the Civil Aviation Authority next week.
Although details have still to be finalized, the Association is believed to be planning a scheme that would avoid ABTA members needing to bond separately with the CAA when Flight Plus regulations come into force in April.
Originally ABTA had hoped to hold a single Flight Plus licence to cover all ABTA members but it ditched this plan when it became apparent it would need to bail out customers when a company failed.
It is now planning to launch a common licensing scheme with the CAA for companies requiring an ATOL licence for the first time to cover their sales of dynamically packaged holidays. It is understood each company would hold their own Flight Plus licence under ABTA’s umbrella.
ABTA is believed to be hoping to confirm details next week.
