Accor’s new Adelaide CBD hotel

Accor has added the centrally-located Rockford Adelaide Hotel to its rapidly growing Australian network and located on the corner of Hindley and Morphett Streets in the West End Arts precinct, the Rockford Adelaide recently completed a full refurbishment of its 57 hotel rooms and 11 spa suites.

The hotel  serves as an excellent base for further exploration of the city and for those travelling beyond Adelaide to Accor’s regional properties, including Grand Mercure Mt Lofty House in the Adelaide Hills, Novotel Barossa Valley Resort and Accor’s other new addition, Grand Mercure Links Lady Bay on the Fleurieu Peninsula.

Ideal for business travellers, the Rockford is conveniently located close to the Adelaide Convention Centre. The hotel has wireless broadband access, in-house conference facilities, catering for boardroom and small meetings to a capacity of 220 people.

For leisure travellers, Rundle Mall, Adelaide Oval, the Art Gallery of South Australia, Adelaide SkyCity Casino, Festival Theatre and the picturesque Botanic Gardens are within walking distance from the Rockford Adelaide.

Hotel facilities include Blue Seafood and Chargrill restaurant, Pulp bar and lounge, and a heated rooftop swimming pool with views across Adelaide Oval.

The vibrant West End precinct encompasses the city’s finest theatrical and cultural attractions as well as an array of restaurants, bars and cafes.  The arts have been a feature of the West End since the 1840s. The first two purpose-built theatres in mainland Australia, The Queens and Royal Victoria, opened in 1840–1 and the gracious and ornate Theatre Royal stood in Hindley Street from 1868 until 1963.

In addition to theatre, the first ‘moving pictures’ shown in Adelaide were screened at the Theatre Royal in 1896, less than a year after the world premiere in Paris in 1895. And Australia’s famous vaudevillian comic Roy Rene, alias “Mo”, namesake of the country’s most prestigious award for ‘live’ entertainment, spent his childhood in Hindley Street.

Rates at the Rockford Adelaide Hotel start from $149 per room per night, or book a VIP Club Level Accommodation Package from $168 per room per night including breakfast, complimentary slippers and toiletry bag amenities with in room features including King Bed, Bath Robes, 68cm LCD Flat Screen TV, Foxtel, free in-house movies and free Wireless Internet Access.
