Aer Lingus launching three more transatlantic routes

Thursday, 22 October 20153 min read
Irish carrier Aer Lingus is expanding its transatlantic network with three US routes beginning next year.
It will resume flying from Dublin to Los Angeles year round three times a week from May, and to Newark and Hartford, Connecticut from September 2016.
The LA route was suspended seven years amid the global recession.
Tickets for the LA and Newark routes are now on sale, while reservations for flights between Dublin and Hartford go live on November 3.
"These three new destinations reflect the ambition of Aer Lingus, but supported by IAG," said Willie Walsh, CEO of new parent company IAG, which also owns British Airways and Iberia.
"We can dedicate resources within IAG and allow airlines operating within the group to focus on challenges without distracting them from the day-to-day," Walsh said.
IAG partner airline British Airways is also expanding to the US.
It will launch daily direct flights from London Gatwick to New York on May 1.
It means BA will fly to New York from all three of London’s main airports – Gatwick, Heathrow and London City.
The airline said the flight has been timed for ‘fantastic’ connections to its network of short-haul flights to 112 destinations across Europe.
