Air France extends trial of ICC AOKpass Covid test solution

Tuesday, 19 Mar, 2021 0

Air France has just launched a new pilot programme of the ICC AOKpass solution for digitizing Covid-19 test results.

The four-week trial will cover outbound and return Air France flights between Paris-Charles de Gaulle, San Francisco and Los Angeles.

Customers booked on these flights can test the ICC AOKpass mobile app on their smartphones, allowing them them to securely record the results of Covid tests carried out in a partner lab.

The ICC AOKpass solution is developed by MedAire/International SOS, and the latest real world testing is a collaboration involving Groupe ADP, San Francisco International Airport and Los Angeles World Airports.

Customers testing the app will benefit from dedicated airport channels, with priority access at boarding and passport control on arrival in Paris.

This programme is in addition to the one launched by Air France earlier this month on flights departing from Paris-Charles de Gaulle to Pointe-à-Pitre (Guadeloupe) and Fort-de-France (Martinique) in the French Caribbean.

After taking the required PCR or LAMP test in a partner laboratory the customer will be sent results with a PDF document and a QR code which can be securely downloaded into the ICC AOKpass app.

On the day of departure the customer will be directed to a dedicated lane during boarding, where they show the QR code as a proof of their Covid-19 negative test.

For arrivals in Paris customers will enjoy priority access at passport control, where they once again present the QR code on the AOKpass app.

"This new experimental programme is an example of what could become the standard for travel document verification in the future, and we are pleased to implement it with Air France partners. Collaboration between governments, airlines and airport authorities is essential to find solutions," said Alain Bernard, Chief Operating Officer at Air France.

The ICC AOKpass solution complies with all applicable GDPR standards and is voluntary for customers during the pilot scheme.

Nearly 130 airports in 18 countries are also ready to deploy ICC AOKpass pilot programmes with airlines.
