A former Google executive has been named as Air New Zealand’s first chief digital officer.
Avi Golan will join Air NZ in early 2016 and is currently employed at US tech firm Intuit.
He has previously worked in senior positions at Google, Barnes and Noble and Olive Software.
"Avi is going to play a critical role within our business to enhance the new revenue opportunities that digital brings, to minimise our online security risks and to drive customer innovation," Air NZ chief executive Christopher Luxon said.
"He will help us to configure ourselves so we can engage with consumers in multiple international markets in a way that is relevant to them through new and emerging channels."
Luxon said Golan’s expertise is in building consumer-focused web and mobile products.
Golan was also a co-founder of the Israeli Entrepreneurs and Founders Foundation, which supports tech start-ups in Silicon Valley.
