Alaska Airlines launching five new routes
Alaska Airlines has announced five new leisure routes including a new service to Cancun.
Launching in mid-December, new flights link Los Angeles with Mexican hotspot Cancun and Reno.
The Cancun flight is seasonal, while Reno flights from LAX will operate year-round.
The airline is also connecting Reno with Palm Springs, CA.
There are two further routes from Palm Springs to Boise, Idaho and San Jose, California.
"We’ve long offered nonstop flights to some of the most popular vacation destinations from Southern California, and we continue to see demand," said Brett Catlin, Alaska’s managing director of capacity planning and alliances.
The airline said it is extending capacity controls on flights by blocking the middle seat through November 2020.
Alaska Airlines’ new Palm Springs routes come as the Palm Springs International Airport sees a spate of new services this winter.
Delta Air Lines is launching a new service to LAX in November, while Allegiant will fly twice a week from PSP to Boise, Idaho and Eugene, Oregon.
Southwest will also launch new flights out of Palm Springs this winter.
