Thursday, 6 April 20173 min read

Alaska Airlines and Virgin America are launching new daily, nonstop cross-country services.
First up from August 30, is a Portland, Oregon to Detroit service operated by Boeing 737 aircraft.
It will be the only daily, year-round nonstop service linking Portland to the Motor city, the airline says.
Alaska also resurrects a Los Angeles to Philadelphia daily service beginning from September 1, which Virgin America previously operated until 2014
"Alaska Airlines continues to expand service from our West Coast hubs by adding convenient, nonstop flights to popular destinations like New York City, Philadelphia and Detroit," said John Kirby, vice president of capacity planning at Alaska Airlines. "
Whether traveling for business or leisure, we continue to meet the needs of our valued guests with more than 800 daily flights in over 300 markets originating from the West Coast."
Then in November a new service begins linking Portland to New York JFK, where Alaska customers can connect to onward transatlantic flights to Europe via Alaska Global Partners including British Airways, Icelandair and Condor.
