Talks are due to resume today between Alitalia, its prospective owner Air France-KLM, and unions representing Alitalia workers.
Unions are fighting plans to cut at least 1,600 jobs in the loss-making Italian airline, but Air France-KLM said the takeover will not go ahead without their approval.
Air France-KLM has set a March 31 deadline for an agreement to be reached.
