American Airlines, Qatar Air kiss and make up

American Airlines and Qatar Airways seem to have settled their differences and will resume their codeshare agreement.

It could also lead to American launching nonstop flights to Qatar capital Doha.

American ended its codeshare partnership with Qatar Airways in 2017 over claims of unfair state subsidies to Gulf carriers.

These issues have now been ‘addressed.’

Qatar Air also made a mischievous and ultimately unsuccessful bid for 10% of American’s stock.

"The issues that led to the suspension of our partnership two years ago have been addressed, and we believe resuming our codeshare agreement will allow us to provide service to markets that our customers, team members and shareholders value,"  said American CEO Doug Parker.

The codeshare pact allows Qatar Airways customers to book through tickets on domestic flights out of Boston, Dallas, Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, New York and Philadelphia.

It also includes international routes to Europe, the Caribbean, and Central and South America.

All Qatar Airways operated flights between the two countries are available for American customers to book as well as onward service across the Middle East, East Africa, and Asia.

"The deal will bring together two of the world’s largest airline networks, increasing choices for millions of passengers and providing seamless connectivity," said Qatar Air CEO Akbar Al Baker.

The partnership is subject to a new government approval process.
