Antigua and Barbuda hotels want guest vaccination mandate
Antigua and Barbuda hotels are urging the government to mandate vaccinations for hotel guests to help contain the spread of Covid.
The Antigua & Barbuda Hotels and Tourism Association wants guests to supply proof of full vaccination for all overnight stays.
Vernon Jeffers, the association’s executive chairman called on the government to make it compulsory for all arrivals 12 years and older.
It proposed a start date of 1 October.
"Our focus is squarely on the protection of our employees, their families and the sustainability of the sector. We are in a difficult period calling for some tough but necessary decisions to be made," Jeffers said.
Currently visitors to Antigua and Barbuda require a negative PCR test result.
Other Caribbean states which require vaccinations to enter include Anguilla, Grenada, and St. Kitts.
