Apex Airlines to launch in Myanmar next month
A new domestic airline will take to the skies next month in Myanmar.
Apex Airlines is based in Nay Pyi Taw and will initially serve Yangon, Dawei and Myeik.
It plans to expand the network to Myitkyina, Mandalay, Bagan, Sittwe, Thandwe, Kawthoung, Heho, Kengtung and Tachileik within a short space of time.
Apex will take delivery of a ATR-72 aircraft later this month and launch flights in late March.
"A second aircraft will arrive between June and July and a third will arrive between September and October," said Apex COO Selva Kuma.
The carrier also plans to spread its wings overseas.
"We are not just looking into flying to Southeast Asian nations but also South Asian destinations such as India and Bangladesh," he said.
The airline will offer online booking with confirmation issued by email and SMS text message.
The new airline joins nine other carriers in a crowded domestic market, which include Air Mandalay, Air Bagan and Golden Myanmar Airlines.
