Christmas dinner in snow-covered Whistler or Lake Louise in the Canadian Rockies is a key feature of two 15-day holidays in APT World Discoveries’ new Winter Wonderland of the Rockies brochure.
APT General Manager Sales and Marketing, Chris Hall said these holidays were ideal for both families and couples of all ages, adding, “These are very popular with Australians because they deliver a very different festive season experience”.
After the Christmas lights of Butchart Gardens in Victoria, both trips depart by ferry for Vancouver, then by coach to Whistler and on the classic Rocky Mountaineer train to Kamloops and Banff through the heart of British Columbia’s interior.
For the Christmas at Lake Louise holiday (3 nights over Christmas at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise) departure is December 14 while the Christmas at Whistler trip (two nights over Christmas at Whistler’s Westin Resort & Spa) departs December 21 and also features a “cocktail/black tie” New Year’s Eve dinner dance.
The Christmas at Lake Louise package is priced from $8,495 per person twin share and the Christmas in Whistler package is from $8,795.
Both prices cover a traditional Christmas dinner, another 21 meals, hotels, and all transport (including return airfares from Australia), sightseeing and entrance fees. Airport taxes are about $390 per person.
At Banff, there is a choice of an icewalk of Johnston Canyon, wildlife safari or traditional afternoon tea at no extra cost, while APT World Discoveries suggests a must-do at Lake Louise is a dog sled adventure ($210) or ice-skating on the lake.
Hoofnote: Chris would neither confirm nor deny rumours that Santa may board the Rocky Mountaineer for the Christmas at Lake Louise trip.
