A serial ‘graffiti artist’ has pleaded guilty to defacing rock formations at seven nation parks.
Casey Nocket, 23 of San Diego, who painted rock formations at the parks and posted images on social media, admitted seven misdemeanors for defacing government property in a federal court.
She went on a graffiti spree during the fall of 2014, ‘decorating’ rock formations including Yosemite, Zion in Utah, Crater Lake National Park in Oregon and Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado.
Nocket posted images of her artwork on Instagram and Tumblr, which sparked outrage on social media.
Work to clean rocks defaced at Crater Lake and Death Valley in California is still not completed nearly two years later.
She was put on two years’ probation and ordered to do 200 hours of community service.
A later hearing will determine how much restitution she will pay to cover clean-up costs.
