Atlantis, Paradise Island in the Bahamas has warned customers of a potential data breach which may have compromised card holders’ personal data.
In a statement the resort said it discovered ‘suspicious files’ on its systems that may have impacted card transactions between March 9, 2016 and October 22, 2016.
The company says it only affects food and beverage and retail locations and not the hotel reservations system.
Malware from the affected point of sales terminals has now been removed and it implemented ‘additional procedures in an effort to prevent any further unauthorized access to customers’ credit and debit card information.’
Malware may have captured card numbers, expiration date, CVV code and in some cases, cardholder name, it said.
"The Resort takes the security of our customers’ information extremely seriously, and we apologize for the inconvenience this incident may have caused our customers. We continue to work with third-party forensic investigators to ensure the security of our systems on behalf of our customers and would like to take this opportunity to remind customers to remain vigilant against fraud," said Howard C. Karawan, president and managing director of Atlantis, Paradise Island.
