Australian business so strong Tahiti sets up office

Friday, 11 Apr, 2007 0

A surge in demand for Tahiti holidays has prompted Tourisme Tahiti to elevate its Australian presence to a full branch office with Tahiti Tourisme Chief Executive Dany Panero, announcing, “Tahiti Tourisme has been represented in Australia for 22 years, but this is the first time we have given the market full branch office status in line with such key markets as France, North America, South America, New Zealand and Japan.”

He added, “As one of our closest markets, Australia has always been very important to us, but it’s only since direct flights began between Sydney and Papeete almost two years ago that we have begun to achieve growth that has warranted a higher level of support.”

“As a result we plan to appoint an experienced marketer to the position of Manager Australia and until that time we are in the fortunate position of being able to draw on our New Zealand Manager, Robert Thompson, to keep all our Australian programs operating.”

Ms Panero gave full credit to Tahiti Tourisme’s Australian representative, Jonica Paramor, for her role in developing the market over a 15-year period, adding, “When Jonica took over as our representative, market growth was running at 3 to 4% a year.”

“Since then Tahiti has positioned itself as the ultimate romantic holiday destination and over the past 20 months has averaged better than 20% growth, thanks to a very strong marketing thrust with our Tahiti partners and a strong commitment to Tahiti by Air Tahiti Nui and Air New Zealand.”

Ms Panero said Tahiti Tourisme’s Acting Manager Australia, Robert Thompson, could be reached on (02) 9233 4920 or via robert@tahiti-tourisme.com.au adding, “I invite all our partners and friends of Tahiti to make contact with Robert if we can be of any assistance, and Tahiti Tourisme looks forward to working with you to continue to make Australians warmly welcome in our beautiful islands.”
