Bahamas sets all-time arrivals record
It was a roller coaster ride for Bahamas tourism in 2019.
Despite widespread devastation from Hurricane Dorian, the Bahamas still managed to record ‘historic’ visitor arrivals numbers in 2019.
It welcomed a total of 7.2 million visitors which is the most ever for the country.
That represents a 9% increase on 2018.
There were 1.78 million stopover including 1.45 million from the US.
Both are new record highs.
It also recorded the highest number of visitors by sea in 2019.
"We look forward to building upon the success of our marketing efforts and continuing the momentum in 2020 as we show the world that The Bahamas continues to be open for business," said minister of tourism & aviation, Dionisio D’Aguilar.
It points to agile marketing policy and aggressive PR for its ‘historic success’ and expects further growth with more international flights due to start in 2020.
