Beijing Capital Airlines will begin flying to North America for the first time later this year.
The HNA Group backed carrier will begin flying three times a week from Hangzhou to Vancouver, via Qingdao on December 30.
"We are thrilled Beijing Capital Airlines has chosen YVR as its first entry point into North America. Beijing Capital Airlines is the sixth airline to serve YVR from mainland China – two more than any other airport in North America or Europe," said Craig Richmond, CEO, Vancouver Airport Authority.
"It is a true testament to YVR’s position as a connecting hub to the Asia-Pacific region, and to YVR’s competitiveness."
Beijing Capital Airlines will deploy Airbus 330 aircraft on the route, seating 222 passengers including 36 in business class.
The airline, established in 2010, operates routes from hubs in Beijing, Guangzhou, Shenyang, Xi’an and Hangzhou.
It faces competition at Vancouver from the likes of Air China, China Eastern, China Southern, Sichuan Airlines and Xiamen Airlines, which all serve the airport from various cities in mainland China.
