Bonaire offers agent incentives
Harbour Village in Bonaire is offering travel agents $50 for bookings of a week or more in a marina or beachfront room, or $100 for booking a week-long stay in a villa or suite, according to Lourdes Abril, reservations manager.
Harbour Village’s 50 units are the most deluxe on Bonaire, she added. Rooms during the less expensive summer season start at $265, going up to $625 for two-bedroom suites.
“About 40% of our visitors are from the US, another 30% from Europe, and the rest from other areas,” she said.
In common with other Caribbean areas, Bonaire is less expensive in the summer. But the area, outside of the hurricane belt, has good weather all-year round.
Harbour Village has a spa and renowned restaurants, but what brings many visitors to the area is the diving.
Bonaire has been named among the world’s top five dive destinations. It has 86 well-defined dive sites.
Over 30 years of environmental protection laws have earned Bonaire a reputation for some of the most beautifully preserved marine life in the world. Abundant underwater life includes more than 300 species of tropical fish and over 120 different kinds of coral. Crystal clear visibility prevails at any depth, according to Ms Abril.
“We have all the amenities such as spa services, but we’ve also got a very, very laidback atmosphere where people can enjoy some pampering while still enjoying the natural beauty of Bonaire,” she said.
