Booking app Travello acquires Backpacker Deals
Travel networking and experiences app Travello recently announced the acquisition of Backpacker Deals, giving it a larger footprint in the youth travel market across Australia.
It snapped up the company for an undisclosed amount of cash and shares.
Travello CEO Ryan Hanly says Backpacker Deals is a market leader in its field and he was attracted by ‘some great technology we haven’t seen in other companies.’
"We have an aligned vision and demographic focus, so this just made perfect sense. Their market share and revenues have been growing aggressively over the last few years and they are already seeing a strong recovery," said Hanley.
Backpacker Deals founder Dinesh Kaku is set to join Travello as its head of growth.
"It will be exciting to scale this company and become the global leaders in youth travel," Kaku said.
Established in Australia, Travello offers traveller networking services, experiences, rewards and trip planning through its app.
The company recently partnered with Flight Centre and has appointed Jeff Lewis, former global VP of technology at Trip Advisor, to its board.
