Three British Tourists were among the victims of a shooting in Lake Annecy in the French Alps.

The bodies of two women and a man were found in a British-registered BMW car.

A fourth person, a cyclist, was also killed.

According to the BBC, two young girls were found alive, but one, aged eight, is in a critical condition in hospital.

It is believed the other child, a four-year-old, had hid under the bodies of her family for eight hours after they were shot. She has been taken into police care.

It is believed all those dead in the vehicle were part of a British family on a camping holiday.

According to some reports, the three people killed were a father, mother and grandmother.

The UK Foreign Office said consular staff were at the scene working with the French authorities and said it was looking into the shootings urgently.
