Sales in London, where the chain had 20% more rooms than last year, were up more than 23%.
In the regions, sales were up by 14.6%, with a 5% rise in the number of rooms available.
Andy Harrison, chief executive of Whitbread, which also owns Costa, said: "Premier Inn and Costa continue to grow rapidly, winning UK market share, with Premier Inn also benefitting from the recovery in the UK regional hotel market.
