Business travelers get a break from airlines
US air carriers, looking for a better mix of fare types, have started deeply discounting business class fares for those who book well in advance, reports The Wall Street Journal.
The airlines hope they will lure more high-end leisure travelers but still receive more profits from selling higher-costing fares to traditionally late-booking business passengers.
To get the low end fares, there’s a requirement of booking 40 days in advance for many of the flights.
The new prices are arriving at the same time US air carriers are setting up new international routes.
“Now that the airlines have a lot more seats to sell,” The Journal writes, “leisure travelers willing to shell out a little more to ride up front can enjoy a unique opportunity.”
