Celebrity Edge shows off ‘Magic Carpet’ ride

Celebrity Cruises has teased a first look at upcoming new ship Celebrity Edge showcasing a game-changing ‘Magic Carpet’ ride.

The 2,918-guest Edge features a cantilevered movable deck which moves up between decks from use as a tender boarding platform on Deck 2 up to Deck 16 where it transforms into a 90-seat restaurant for evening dining.

At Deck 5, the Magic Carpet also expands one of the ship’s specialty restaurants into an al fresco section over the side of the ship.

Other new features on the Edge include a new Retreat suite complex with a private pool and the Retreat Lounge with round the clock butler service.

There are two new Suite Class categories including the split-level Edge Villas with private plunge pools and direct access to The Retreat Sundeck.

"Our guests don’t want to just skim the world like a magazine – they want to feel a human connection with it. Every element of Celebrity Edge is meant to make that connection intense and unforgettable. Our new class of ship will allow guests to experience their journeys with the uniqueness and sophistication that marks the rest of their lives," said Celebrity CEO and president Lisa Lutoff-Perlo.
