China eases Covid regulations for airlines
China’s Civil Aviation Administration has relaxed policy for inbound flights, easing its strict penalties for flying in passengers that turn out to be infected with Covid. Until now, China has suspended flights of airlines who carry infected passengers ranging from a week to up to a month depending on the number of positive cases.
Now, instead of a temporary ban, airlines can now chose to continue flying the route but must restrict passenger capacity to no more than 40%.
The CAAC says this will help airlines and their customers which have been impacted by last minute cancellations when an airline is penalised.
