China Eastern Airlines taps Worldpay for global payments
China Eastern Airlines has turned to payment processor Worldpay as its primary international payments provider for its growing international and long-haul business.
The Worldpay option is live on 14 of the carrier’s 17 local websites with Korea, Taiwan and Japan rolling out later this month.
Since the initial implementation of Worldpay, payment acceptance rates rose to 90% across its local websites, the company says.
"The payment experience we provide online is a critical part of providing the welcome and reassurance our customers require before flying. We are delighted that our collaboration with Worldpay has been so successful to date and look forward to working further with them as our international business grows," China Eastern Airlines said in a release.
Worldpay’s multi-currency pricing solution is expected to also integrate locally preferred payment methods such as Alipay and PayPal.
"The rising economic power of Asia, along with increased travel to and from the region, means carriers like China Eastern Airlines are in a great place to join the elite club of globally recognised airlines," said Shane Happach, managing director of global e-commerce at Worldpay.
"By helping to provide great e-commerce experiences backed up with the data and insights they need to continuously improve their services, we’re helping China Eastern Airlines to use their payments platform as a foundation to fulfil their global ambitions."
