Chipchase to sing a new tune

Sunday, 07 Jul, 2011 0

Sandra Chipchase will have to read from a different script in her new role as CEO of Destination NSW.

In her old job as head of the Melbourne Convention and Visitors Bureau, Chipchase was fond of telling anyone who cared to listen that Melbourne was the world’s best city for events and was outshining its rival down the road.

And it worked. In her five years as chief executive of MCVB, Melbourne’s events business soared.

Destination NSW is the state government’s new statutory tourism and events authority which has a target of doubling expenditure by tourists in New South Wales.

The body amalgamates Events NSW, Tourism NSW, Regional Tourism Organisations, Business Events and the Greater Sydney Partnership,

MCVB has begun the recruiting process to find a replacement for Chipchase.
