Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) Australasia has named Steve Odell new chairman for the trade group.
Odell is Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings senior vice president and managing director, Asia Pacific and replaces Gavin Smith, who moves to the UK as senior vice president international for Royal Caribbean.
"Gavin has been very generous with his support and guidance for CLIA during a time of rapid industry growth and we thank him for all his hard work on the industry’s behalf. We look forward to continuing to raise the cruise industry’s profile with Steve now at the helm of our committee," said CLIA Australasia managing director Neil Linwood.
Odell is a 30-year cruise industry veteran and held senior management positions for a number of cruise lines, including Silversea Cruises.
He joined Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings last year.
CLIA also appointed three new members to the executive committee.
They are Princess Cruises vice president Australia & New Zealand Stuart Allison, Royal Caribbean managing director Australia & New Zealand, Adam Armstrong and Carnival Cruise Line vice president for Australia, Jennifer Vandekreeke.
