CroisiEurope ship runs aground
A cruise to Phuket has ended a day early after the ship ran aground on rocks.
The CroisiEurope ship La Belle Des Oceans was stuck on rocks near the island of Koh Phi Phi and was reportedly taking in water.
It had to be partially towed by a Thai navy ship.
The 120-passenger vessel had left the island of Koh Lanta and was heading to Phuket when it ran aground.
The Thai navy said it has a damaged hull.
"The passengers are all safe and we will question the cruise ship captain about the crash again later," said vice admiral Choenghai Choengchompat.
The ship was recently acquired by CroisiEurope and had visited Singapore and Malaysia prior to Thailand.
Passengers were accommodated in a Phuket hotel for their final night of the sailing.
They will be compensated, although the line hasn’t disclosed details.
