Harmful ‘biofoul’ marine fungal growth has stranded cruise ship guests off the coast of Adelaide.
The Viking Orion was not allowed to dock in Adelaide.
Biofoul is the accumulation of harmful marine microorganisms.
These can bring in ‘invasive species’ into Australian waters, the Australian fisheries department said.
Viking Orion is anchored outside Australian waters while the hull is cleaned.
Passengers have been stuck onboard since 26 December.
