Delta drops Detroit meal service after ‘food safety issue’
Thousands of Delta Air Lines passengers went without meal service on flights out of Detroit over the weekend, following a ‘food safety issue.’
More than 200 Detroit flights had no meal service after a routine check by Food and Drug Administration inspectors.
Following the inspection, Delta and its catering partner closed down the facility.
“During a recent inspection, Delta’s catering partner was notified of a food safety issue. We immediately shut down hot food production and subsequently suspended all activity from the facility,” Delta said.
“Hot food and other onboard provisioning will be managed from other facilities.”
“We will continue to take necessary precautions to ensure food safety.”
The FDA or the airline haven’t disclosed specifics about the food safety issue.
