Delta ends commission for ticket changes in US
US travel agents have been dealt another blow by Delta Air Lines, which has stopped paying them commission for changing a ticket.
The carrier had been paying a $25 administrative service charge, or ASC, on tickets for US and Canadian travel, and 5% of the service charge for international tickets.
Delta’s move has left Continental Airlines as the only major US carrier still paying commission to agents for ASC. It pays $15.
The other airlines eliminated the payments when the stopped base pay commissions in March.
A Delta spokeswoman refused to discuss the decision to axe the payments, but agents in the US confirmed it became effective from July 1.
Delta put a notice of the change in Sabre on July 1, but did not inform agents directly.
The airline was the first to eliminate base commission for agents in the US and Canada, a move that was quickly followed by the other US carriers.
