Delta plane’s emergency slide lands in Boston backyard
A Massachusetts resident had a surprise from the sky after an inflatable evacuation slide landed in his backyard.
The US Federal Aviation Administration is investigating after the slide somehow ejected from a Delta Air Lines plane as it was approaching Boston Airport.
The pilot noted a ‘loud sound’ as the plane started its descent into Boston.
There were no other issues with the plane and it landed without incident.
It fell into the yard of homeowner Wenhan Huang in Milton, Massachusetts who was outside and watched it fall with a neighbor.
"It’s kind of crazy. Who could know there’s something coming from the air and drops into my yard, right? It’s pretty heavy. You can’t even carry it, " he told news station WVCB.
Only when he noticed the word ‘Boeing’ on the side of it did he realize what it was.
Police were called who alerted aviation authorities.
Although it wasn’t inflated the six-feet long tarpaulin could have killed someone, said neighbor Stephanie Leguia, who also saw it fall from the sky.
"Our maintenance team is inspecting the aircraft; at this time we do not have any additional information. The flight landed without incident and taxied to the gate under its own power," Delta said in a statement.
A full investigation is underway.
