Disney Star Wars themed Coke bottles get TSA ban
One of Disneyland’s Star Wars themed gifts is almost literally the bomb – but it won’t fly with the Transportation Security Administration.
Coca-Cola co-branded bottles are being sold in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland but have been banned by the TSA both checked and carry-on baggage at airports.
The ‘thermal detonator’ bottles resemble replica explosives the TSA says.
When they were launched by Disney Imagineering executive Scott Trowbridge they were described as ‘cool and awesome.’
They come in three color schemes – red for Coke, red and silver for Diet Coke and green for Sprite.
Although anyone would have a hard time mistaking them for real explosives, they are shaped like thermal detonator grenades.
The TSA’s @AskTSA twitter feed confirmed they are banned from aircraft.
"Replica and inert explosives aren’t allowed in either carry-on or checked bags," the agency tweeted in response to an inquiry from a traveler.
